Impala/Monte Carlo DRL/ALC Bypass

There is now a working solution to bypass the Daytime Running Lights (DRL) and Auto Light Control (ALC) without causing "Service Engine Soon" or "Highbeam Out" errors.

Introduction

The 2000-2005 Impala and Monte Carlo have a sophisticated lighting system designed to catch problems as well as deter modification.  Up until now, it has not been possible to bypass the Daytime Running Lamp system on these vehicles without causing a "Service Engine Soon" or a "Highbeam Out" error message on the cluster message center.  This article will present the wiring necessary to defeat the Daytime Running Lamp (DRL) and Automatic Light Control (ALC) systems

Plug and Play Kits

There is a "plug and play" kit available that will allow you to switch between bypass and normal mode independently for both the DRL and ALC circuit.  These plug and play kit requires no cutting or splicing of wires, it simply plugs inline with the BCM or Ambient Light Sensor harness.
